Within Cameron Park, Cameron Park Zoo is a 52-acre natural habitat zoo. More than 1,731 animals call this zoo home, and they represent about 300 different species. With habitats ranging from the African Savanna to the Brazos River Country, you’ll see some incredible wildlife and feel like you’ve just returned from a worldwide adventure once you leave the gates.

Lake Waco offers some of the best fishing, camping and boating in Central Texas. If you’re looking for a meandering hike along the Lake, try the 5.6-mile Hike & Bike Trail near the Lake Waco Dam. You can also rent a boat for up to eight hours and spend some time on the water. If a laid-back activity is more your style, check out Airport Beach on the North Shore of the Lake.

Looking to spend some time on the water? Stop by the Pullin Family Marina on Baylor University’s campus for kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboards and sunfish sailboats. You can even sign up for sailing lessons during the school year. The Marina is open until sundown, making this spot the perfect place to catch the sunset over the Brazos. Admission is $5, and all guests must fill out a waiver upon arrival.
