Communication Sciences & Disorders
Baylor’s Communication Sciences and Disorders program provides the pre-professional courses required for graduate study in either speech-language pathology or audiology. Students study the basics of speech, language, and hearing processes within a profession dedicated to expanding people’s abilities to express themselves.
The Communication Sciences and Disorders program at Baylor emphasizes speech-language pathology and introduces students to techniques and processes across the lifespan as well as the relationships between communication and culture, social skills, and cognitive ability. Sample courses include:
Language Development
- Introduction to Phonological Science
- Disorders of Speech and Swallowing
- Introduction to Aural Rehabilitation
- Language Disorders in Children
Undergraduate students have the opportunity to serve as Reading Assistants in the renowned Baylor Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic, which has provided high quality care for the Waco community for over 60 years.
