Greek and Roman Studies
The Greek and Roman Studies major offers a multidisciplinary approach to the study of antiquities. Students will have the opportunity to study classical literature, culture, languages, and religious and intellectual life.
This major is beneficial for those seeking a strong multidisciplinary humanities background or a broad background prior to advanced study in a related academic field or pursuit of a professional degree. Minors require 18 hours.
The Classics Department offers several special programs for students. As part of the Green Scholars Initiative, the department offers undergraduate researchers the rare opportunity to work first hand with ancient Greek and Latin papyri and medieval manuscripts. Students of Greek and Roman studies are afforded unique opportunities to enhance their learning through Greek intensives, a study abroad program in Italy or manuscript research.
