Composition
The objective of the Bachelor of Music (BM) Composition degree program at Baylor University is to guide young composers in developing their unique voice and grow to compose out of educated intentionality. Composition students are trained to be versatile composers and musicians. The curriculum is structured to include a high level of performance on an instrument, conducting experience, electronic music, improvisation, and orchestration. Composition courses include:
- Musicianship
- Jazz Arranging
- History of Music Theory
- Electroacoustic Composition
- Entrepreneurship in Music
All students desiring to pursue a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, or Bachelor of Arts in Music degree must audition. Music faculty review auditions for acceptance into each music degree program.
The Music Composition major guides young composers in developing their unique voice. It is structured to include a high level of composition, performance, conducting, electronic music, improvisation, and orchestration.
